Officer Nicholson Tells all about Tanglewood!

Officer Nicholson was recently interviewed by my fellow and new Journalism classmates. She told us the changes and challenges she has had to do in order to be the successful officer that she is. I was recently introduced to our school resource officer. She has been an officer since October 1995. She is married with two children, a ten year daughter and a 7 year old son. She has been married for 11 years. She meet her husband when he was a K9 handler. She says the greatest thing about her marriage is learning from the mistakes that she and her spouce have made. She then told us why she became an officer. She says she became an officer because of her family memebers. She also told that before she became an officer she was a hair stylist for 5 years. She says she was told that because she was a girl she couldn't be a police officer. Before she started working here she worked at a state prison in 1993 for 2 1/2 years. After that she became the 9th female deputy out of 310!! She says she would love to be a K9 hnadler. She then goes on and tell about her job her at Tanglewood Middle. She say she has made only 12 charges and 2 in jail. (Just for Tanglewood) She told me that she as arrested more girls than boys. ("CAT FIGHTS," says Nicholson) She has mostly arrested people for fighting, stealing, and drugs at Tanglewood. Although she has been acttaked she says "I love my job, I really do. When I am not working I am lost without it. It has become part of me."
